About Us

Why we exist

Serve Cambodia is a Non Government Organisation that exists to serve the needs of the poor and underprivileged in Cambodia.  We are staffed by local Cambodian people with a heart to see the country move from its current state of poverty in to a bright new future.

What we do

To support our community development projects, Serve Cambodia partners with an international aid organisation called ACC International Relief. These projects include:

* Tarsha’s Legacy Centre (TLC): An education centre that opened in May 2008 in Happy Village at Koh Krobey in Kandal Province. It provides regular English, Khmer, arts & crafts and story classes for nearly 100 children. They not only receive education, but also health care and a nutritional meal each day to help them grow and develop to reach their full potential.

* Harvest of Hope (HOH): Officially opened in January 2011, the Harvest of Hope Centre aims to provide care for families affected by HIV, especially focusing on the needs of children, ensuring they receive medical care along with education and provision for their basic needs. Similar to TLC, this education centre also provides regular English, Khmer, arts & crafts and story classes for nearly 70 children, along with nutritional food and health care to ensure they have every opportunity to achieve their full potential!

* Light of Hope (LOH):  This is currently a very simple education centre at Doung Village in Takeo Province. It is a small education centre that meets in a basic tin and wood building in a village about two hours drive south of Phnom Penh.  Currently the children here are provided with very basic teaching in English, Khmer and story classes to help them in their development.  The future hope is that this centre can become a full education centre similar to TLC and HOH, providing a full education, health and nutrition program.

* Work Skills and Education Project: This project provides education and training scholarships to young people, enabling them to enhance their job prospects and standard of living. For many Cambodians, simply completing secondary school can be unaffordable. So most Cambodian people never even dream of going to University, completing a formal trade apprenticeship, or improving their language skills and employment prospects.
